A Jealous God

Imagine this scene:

(Assuming you're a guy, if you're not, imagine)
Your girlfriend (Yes, I do mean THE SPECIAL girlfriend) is next to you.
You just met up with one of your other friends who so happens to be a girl.
And you tell your friend that you love her.
Whether in joke or for real doesn't matter.

I mean, what do you think would happen? Ka-boom!

In the same way, our God is a jealous God.
That's exactly how He feels when we worship other things before Him.
When we put other things first.
When instead of seeking Him and His righteousness first, we run after material things.
We say to other things beside God that we love them first.
And that God can take a second place or even lower down.

Don't grieve the Holy Spirit, don't grieve Jesus.
He's already making intercession on our behalf, why add to His load?
Not by our strength, not by our power, only by our Daddy in Heaven.

Something I'm still learning as well.
Full credit for the analogy goes to Derick Marenga. =]

Isaiah 43
1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

II Corinthians 12

9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses,
so that Christ's power may rest on me.
10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults,
in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.
For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Actually, I think Mel would be kinda okay if I told someone else 'i love you' in general conversation, cause that's just the sort of guy I am =) XD
